The Argentine diaspora of Catania

After Mihajlović's departure to Fiorentina, Catania appointed Marco Giampaolo as new head coach for the 2010–11 season; on January 2011, Catania decided to remove Giampaolo from his position due to poor results and replace him with former Argentine star Diego Simeone, who had no previous experience at Serie A level but managed to guide the Sicilians to safety before to part company by the end of the season, after only four months in charge of the team. With the last movements in this winter (Bergressio & Schelotto), Catania had 13 players from the country of tango and by the way even the coach with Diego Simeone's arrival. With Simeone as coach, Catania did a points record in it’s history (46 points) ! Catania continued to reinforce the Italo-Argentine base. It’s like they want to reciprocate the “hospitality” in honor of the thousands of Sicilians who emigrated to Argentina in the 19th and 20th century, for the 2013-04 season Catania still have 13 argentine players in their roster. And now have a look on the Panini sticker of the Argentine community in Catania for 2010-11 season (It miss only Pablo Barrientos). Click on the picture for a better quality
