Everobody remembers Edgar DAVIDS and his glasses on european grounds. The official version of this apparition of glasses when he played started in 1999, Davids began wearing protective glasses, following surgery in his right eye caused by glaucoma, which developed in 1995 following eye injuries. A Glaucoma is a term describing a group of ocular disorders with multi-factorial etiology united by a clinically characteristic intraocular pressure-associated optic neuropathy. This can permanently damage vision in the affected eye(s) and lead to blindness if left untreated. But this is not the truth ! The injury of 1999 is a pretext. Have a look on this Panini sticker just below. It was the 1994-95 season with former team of Ajax Amsterdam and as you can see, he was totally short-sighted !! Davids just wait five years and a good excuse to first wore his glasses on September 4, 1999 in a friendly match against Belgium.
