Andres INIESTA knew that he started his international career only 4 days after his 22nd birthday. Originally a fringe player, he was called up to represent Spain at the World Cup 2006 on 15 May 2006, much to the surprise of many. Iniesta won his first cap for Spain when he was brought on at half-time in a friendly against Russia on 27 May 2006, the first of the 3 world cup's preparing games for Spain. Then he waited 8 games to scored his first goal with "la roja". It was a Old Trafford in a friendly game versus England. A sad defeat for the Three Lions because Spain were on the back foot at the start of each half, but the visitors survived to take control of the match. In this close game, substitute Andres Iniesta arrowed a shot past Foster. Iniesta had only been on the pitch for five minutes when he quickly collected Rio Ferdinand's defensive clearance, before sending an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net. This splendid goal on video and in some aspects it looks like the most important one than he scored in his football life versus Netheerlands in the 2010 World cup final :
