UK Football Team - Chelsea 1992-93

The season start with a terrific revolution at Stamford Bridge. Striker Kerry Dixon ends nine years at Chelsea to sign for Southampton in a £575,000 deal. In the other hand Chelsea pay a club record £2.1million for Norwich City's Scottish striker Robert Fleck. Vinnie Jones stayed only two months ans the 9th september 1992 he returned to Wimbledon after three years away in a £700,000 move from Chelsea. Chelsea had a outsanding first part season with a 4th place in december and from the 07th octobre to the end of 1992 they conceded only one lost in 15 games. They face Manchester United in a tough game at Stamford Bridge the 19th decemeber 1992 (1-1 and the first goal of Eric CANTONA for the Red Devils). Then in 1993 Chelsea known a several drop with a very bad run. To January from February : 8 lost in ten games despite the reinforcement of great russian goalkeeper Dmitri Kharin from CSKA Moscow at the end of the year. After this very bad run and the defeat at Stamford Bridge versus Aston Villa (0-1),  Ian Porterfield is sacked after less than two years as manager of Chelsea. David Webb, who left the Southend United job last summer, is appointed as Chelsea's new manager on a trial contract until the end of the season. Chelsea closed the season in a perfect position at the middle of the class (11th/22). At the end of the season,  Glenn Hoddle is named as Chelsea's new manager. Hoddle, 36, will also be registered as a player with the club. Now the 1992-93's Chelsea Team in stickers. I could say a bad boys gallery  :
